Requirements for Inbound Mail Filtering and Archiving (messages received by your users)
Domain
- You must have your own domain name for your email, not a shared or third-party domain. For example, your email address should be similar toyour_name@your_domain.com, not your_name@hotmail.com.
Access to MX Records
- You or your email administrator must be able to change your DNS MX records (used to direct your mail flow). If you own your domain, you should be able to change your MX records by working with your domain name provider or ISP. Our activation instructions will walk you through this process.
Supported Mail Servers
-
The service supports all common mail servers, including Microsoft Exchange Server, Lotus Domino, Postfix, Sendmail, Macintosh OS X Server, and Novell Groupwise.
Supported Service Providers (hosted email): The service is also compatible most ISPs and domain name providers that host the email for your own domain. The service is not compatible with providers that don't release mail server information, or don't allow you to change the MX records with their hosted email service. Currently known providers that are incompatible with the service include 1and1.com and XO Communications.
Requirements for Outbound Mail Filtering and Archiving (messages sent by your users)
Domain
- You must have a static IP (not a dynamic IP) for your domain. Supported Mail ServersYou or your email administrator must have administrative control over your own mail server to set up your outbound mail to flow through the service. The service supports all common mail servers, including Microsoft Exchange Server, Lotus Domino, Postfix, Sendmail, or Novell Groupwise.
Supported Service Providers (hosted email)
- At this time, we do not support webmail server (such as Yahoo! Domains) for your domain's email. If you do not own your own mail server, please contact us.
